As we’ve covered previously, the Samsung Galaxy S20 (which is the successor to the Galaxy S10) will come in three variants, the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra. The latter will be the biggest and most powerful of the lot – but exactly how powerful is it?
XDA Developers’ Max Weinbach gave us a glimpse into what the S20 Ultra could pack – the most jarring spec mentioned was a massive 16GB RAM configuration – in comparison, the best gaming smartphone around only uses 12GB RAM, and even that’s overkill.
This isn’t the first we’re hearing of 16GBs of memory in a smartphone – yesterday, we reported that the upcoming Black Shark 3 could also follow suite.
Weinbach also notes that the Galaxy S20 Ultra could have up to 512GB of internal storage with a microSD card expansion slot which supports up to 1TB of storage.
For imaging, the phone will apparently get a 108MP lens – mostly likely thanks to the Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor – a whopping 48MP 10x optical zoom camera, and a 12MP wide lens. This is a head-scratcher considering Samsung frequently opts for lower-res cameras in their flagship devices – using instead, software to provide great image quality.
The phone will also be powered by a 5,000mAh battery with an “option” for a 45W fast charge – we’re assuming this means you choose can get the phone with a fast charging accessory.
We already know how the Galaxy S20+ will look like, and it looks like we also know pretty much what the Galaxy S20 Ultra will pack in terms of hardware. It’s threatening to dethrone the Google Pixel 4 as the most leaked smartphone ever. But hey, the flagship series will be launched this February at Samsung’s Unpacked event, so we won’t have to wait long until we know what’s really up.
