Android Nougat causing battery woes on Nexus 6P

Lately, numerous owners of the Nexus 6P have been complaining about unexpected shutdowns before the phone’s battery discharges. The last Nexus-titled flagship which was launched last year, has been claimed to only have the aforementioned issue after being updated to Android Nougat.

The folks at Android Police have found out a couple of threads on Google’s support forums regarding this Nexus 6P battery concern. Users have reported unexpected shutdowns even when the device had as high as 60 percent worth of battery juice, beginning at 10 percent. Though this issue has been largely related to Android Nougat, some of them have claimed that the problem still persists after flashing back to Marshmallow.

Android Police has reported further, concluding that most of the reports regarding the Nexus 6P’s battery issue originate from users residing in cold climate countries, but could not confrim that cold weather is directly linked to the Nexus 6P experiencing unexpected shutdowns. Some users have reportedly reached out to Huawei for warranty, the manufacturer responsible for the Nexus 6P, but Huawei has claimed that the problem lies with Google’s software, not the phone’s hardware and battery.

A tracker was assigned to this issue on Google’s support forum, but there seems to be no sign of a quick fix or a chance of Google attempting to fix the problem in the future. Are you facing battery and shutdown problems on your Nexus 6P? Let us know at the comments section below!
