Twitter now supports live video streaming via Periscope

In the light of live video streaming being made available to social media giants such as Facebook and Instagram, Periscope, one of the first known apps which focuses on live video broadcasts, isn’t dead just yet. The Twitter owned company has made an announcement whereby Twitter users can now broadcast videos live through Tweets.

Along with the #GoLive hashtag, you can now start broadcasts directly from the Twitter app. This new addition comes after Twitter and Periscope added the ability for the Twitter community to watch Periscope broadcasts live via the Twitter app earlier this year. When composing a Tweet, users now have a “LIVE” option aside from “Photo” and “Video”. By selecting the “LIVE” button, a broadcast screen will be brought up, and you will be able to stream live to your friends on Twitter.

Apart from that, when you are viewing a Periscope broadcast on Twitter, you can join the audience to get the full on Periscope experience by just tapping in. It will then feel all familiar if you happen to be a frequent user of the Periscope app. These new features allow users to access the Periscope world via both the Twitter and Periscope app. Perhaps, this is one of the few tactics to bring Periscope back to life. The update is said to be rolling out to both iOS and Android platforms over the next couple of days. Till then, stay tuned!
