Snapdragon Windows 10 PCs were not what we expected, with issues like speeds that were promised were not delivers and performance issues. Now the company wants to fix the issues by releasing the Snapdragon 1000 which should be a vast improvement over the previous processors used in Windows PCs.

They solved the problem by including more transistors in any mobile processors in the market. What was previously known as the Snapdragon 1000 is now called the Snapdragon 8180, and it comes with 8.5 billion transistors. To put it into perspective, the Snapdragon 845 has 5.3 billion transistors and Apple’s A12 alongside Huawei’s Kirin 980 processors have 6.9 billion transistors. The only way to achieve this is to make the processor larger, but like the Snapdragon 855, it will be made using the 7nm process. This still means that the 8180 will draw more power than its previous generation, around 15 watts. That’s the same amount of power that is drawn by the Intel Core U series.

Don’t expect to see the 8180 processor in smartphones as the processor was developed with the intention of being equipped and run in Windows 10 PCs.
