Lenovo refreshes the ThinkPad X1 family with 8th Gen Intel processors and HDR displays

Lenovo has introduced refreshed line up of the ThinkPad X1 family which consists of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, ThinkPad X1 Yoga, and ThinkPad X1 Tablet that is catered to both commercial and consumer category. The ThinkPad family received the refresh mainly to meet the needs of a digital-first workspace.

2018 ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 Yoga

Both the ThinkPad Carbon and Yoga comes with upgraded specs like an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB LPDDR3 RAM, Intel UHD 20 graphics chip and up to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage. The biggest improvement is the addition of a 14-inch IPS HDR display which offers vibrant and accurate colours which also supports touch.

The only difference between these two laptops is that the Yoga allows for different configuration setup and the keyboard will retract into the body when placing it into Tablet Mode. Lenovo has claimed that the battery will last a whole day of use, but if the device does run out of battery, it will only take an hour of charge to get the battery to 80%. For features, the X1 Yoga comes with LTE-A capability and both laptops come with glance-eye-tracking powered by an infrared camera to make it easier to work with a multi-display setup.

2018 ThinkPad X1 Tablet

As part of the X1 family, this tablet comes with top of the line specs like the 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor, Intel UHD 620 graphics, 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD storage. Powering the device is a 42Wh battery that can give you up to 9.5 hours of battery life and supports RapidCharge, it comes with security measures like a fingerprint reader, IR Camera, and Kensington lock slot. The tablet also comes with a 13-inch HDR Ready display that produces 3K resolution and works with the Lenovo Pen Pro.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 Yoga will be available online and all Lenovo Exclusive Stores beginning 14 March 2018 and will retail for RM7,999 and RM8,999 respectively. The ThinkPad X1 Tablet will be available soon.
