Linux has proven to be a very versatile operating system. A few years ago, we have seen a group of hackers running Linux on the PS3, and it seems to perform fairly well. Now, another group has managed to run a fully functional version of Linux on the Nintendo Switch.
A hacking collective known as fail0verflow, which is known for exploiting the Nvidia Tegra hardware equipped with the Switch, has shown an image on Twitter of a Nintendo Switch booting and running Linux. Recently, they tweeted another post which shows a video of Linux running on the system with complete support for the touchscreen, an operational web browser and a GPU-powered demo application. The hacker group has claimed that the exploited bug cant be patch on currently released hardware and won’t require a modchip.

As of now, they have not released any information on how you can install Linux on your own Switch, but the fact that they have managed to bypass the security in the console opens up a huge possibility that in the future, the Switch might support backed up games and homebrew which will significantly increase the attractiveness of the Switch.
