This smartphone is for the older folks

The world of technology is advancing at a pretty extreme pace, and while most of us modern people have no problem catching up with the times, the elderly are often left behind when it comes to fast and instant communication. Majority of the elderly are unable to grasp the operation of smartphones, but Chinese smartphone brand VKWorld has released a smartphone with simplified UI made for this group of people.

The VKWorld F1 isn’t exactly a brand new phone. In fact, it is nearly two years old, having launched back in January 2016. It sports a rather small 4.5-inch display, but has font sizes 5 times larger than the standard font, which makes it easier on the eyes for the elderly. The Android powered smartphone also has a more simplified user interface, almost like that of a feature phone. The home screen also has SOS button alongside the user’s primary contacts, and they can also make use of Android features such as its apps and Internet.

The VKWorld F1 obviously comes with aged specs, such as a MediaTek MT6580 processor, 1GB of RAM, an 8MP and 5MP rear and front camera combo. But for the elderly who are probably not heavy users, these specs are sufficient. It will be priced around the RM 200 mark in China.
