5.8-inch curved AMOLED display to be featured in 2017 iPhone

After three years, Apple 4-inched the iPhone again, with the unveiling of the iPhone SE. Fortunately, the Cupertino company is likely not to go 4 inches on another one of their iPhones. Instead, we have news that Apple will have a whopping 5.8-inch iPhone next year. Not only that, the display is said to be curved.

This news comes from trusted source and KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who also mentioned that the 2017 iPhone will have curved panels on both the rear and front sides. Aside from that, Apple is rumored to acquire AMOLED panels for next year’s flagship. With AMOLED panels recently trumping over LCD panels in terms of affordability, it is not surprise that Apple will be switching to AMOLED from its current TFT-LCD displays.

While this one might seem a bit of a far fetch, the iPhone is also said to feature new biometric recognition technology, including iris scanning and a more secure facial recognition techology. This first comes from the company’s recent aqcuisition of Emotient, a facial recognition specialist. 2017 will most likely see an S version of the iPhone 7, who’s scheduled to make its appearance later this year.
