Finnish brand HMD Global has expanded its Android One portfolio with the launch of the entry-level Nokia 2.2. The Nokia 2.2 is the company’s most affordable Android One smartphone yet, positioned below the Nokia 3.2.

HMD Global’s latest offering features a 5.71-inch HD+ resolution LCD display with a waterdrop-style notch at the top and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display panel is said to offer a peak brightness of 400 nits, which is quite impressive considering its affordable pricing. Under the hood, Nokia 2.2 runs on MediaTek’s Helio A22 quad-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz.

Moving on to the memory department, Nokia 2.2 will be available in two variants: 2GB + 16GB and 3GB + 32GB. When it comes to optics, the latest Android One handset from HMD Global has a single 13MP snapper at the rear with an f/2.2 aperture lens and an LED flash. Like most other smartphones in the entry-level segment, the Nokia 2.2 has a 5MP resolution front-facing camera for selfies. The smartphone packs a 3000mAh capacity battery with 5W charging support. While there is no fingerprint sensor, the handset does support Face Unlock.

The Nokia 2.2 has been priced at INR 6,999 (RM420) for the 2GB RAM variant and INR 7,999 (RM479) for the 3GB RAM variant. These are introductory prices and will only remain valid until the end of this month. Starting from July, the 2GB RAM variant of the phone will cost INR 7,699 (RM461), while the 3GB model will cost INR 8,699 (RM521). The phone will be available in two colors: Steel and Tungsten Black. It is slated to go on sale in India starting June 11. HMD Global hasn’t announced any details regarding availability in other markets.
