Intel and AMD teams up to bring a chip made for gaming to ultrathin laptops

The greatest plot twist of 2017 is Intel and AMD are working together to produce a computer chip that will use an Intel processor and AMD graphics unit to power a computer. The new chip is said to be made for laptops and is designed to be thin and portable but powerful enough for gamers to play intensive games.

These new chips are not made to compete with AMD Ryzen mobile chips but is designed for ultrathin laptops and is due out end of the year. AMD has also mentioned that these chips are made for gamers while their Ryzen chips can run games but were not specifically designed for that. Intel then came out to mention that they are using a new technology that will allow information to be passed quickly in “extremely close proximity”, allowing them to build chips that are smaller but more powerful.

A team up like this is huge as the last time these two giants teamed up was in the 1980s according to The Wall Street Journal. But the bigger question is what is NVIDIA going to do about this as this would mean that they do not need NVIDIA GPUs to be inside ultrathin laptops and that could potentially remove the graphics company from the mobile computer market.
