Huawei pulls back the curtains on the Honor 8

With both the Mate and the P series getting their updates, the spotlight is now focused on Huawei’s other line of smartphones: the Honor line. Today, Huawei has officially revealed the Honor 8, and judging by its specifications, this phone is placed right below the P9.

Let’s start with specifications. The Honor 8 will come with a 5.2″ 1080p touchscreen and will run on the Kirin 950 processor. Said processor is Huawei’s own octa-core CPU that employs four Cortex-A72 cores that is clocked at up to 2.3GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores that is clocked up to 1.8GHz. The Honor 8 will sport up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

For the cameras, the Honor 8 will sport a dual 12MP rear camera setup with f/2.2 aperture, while the front camera is an 8MP unit with f/2.4 aperture. Other features that the Honor 8 will have includes dual-SIM functionality, a 3,000 mAh battery, a USB Type-C port, and a fingerprint scanner. The device itself will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei’s Emotion UI 4.1.

Huawei will begin selling the Honor 8 in three different variants. The 3GB RAM – 32GB Storage variant will have a starting price of CNY 1,999 (RM 1,195), the 4GB RAM – 32GB Storage variant is priced at CNY 2,299 (RM 1,374), while the 4GB RAM – 64GB Storage version will be priced at CNY 2,499 (RM 1,493). The Honor 8 will be available in Pearl White, Sunrise Gold, Midnight Black, Sakura Pink, and Sapphire Blue colours. Sales for the device will begin in China on the 19th of July at 10.08 AM.
