HONOR MagicBook 14 with AMD Ryzen 5 3500U launched in Malaysia for RM2,299 – available April 8

We recently had an early look at the new HONOR MagicBook laptop and covered everything from aesthetics and its hardware – today, the device has officially been launched and we have the Malaysian price for you.

The HONOR MagicBook 14 is priced at RM2,299 and will be available midnight on 8 April. Early birds will be able to get freebies worth up to RM1,017 which includes a Bluetooth mouse, an HONOR Magic Watch 2 and an HONOR laptop backpack.

As a refresher, the MagicBook we’re getting here isn’t the one introduced in Barcelona last month – so no Azure Blue Chamfer; instead you get a plain Space Grey option, which still looks sleek. There’s also no pop-up webcam – you get yours placed on the top display bezel.

Speaking of the display, you get a FHD IPS anti-reflective panel with relatively thin side frames. This lets the laptop have a 13-inch body with a larger display.

The body itself is aluminium all around and has the brand HONOR engraved on the cover with silver accents.

Although this is the first-generation HONOR MagicBook – you still get the newer AMD Ryzen 5 3500U CPU with Radeon Vega 8 graphics. Plus you get 8GB DDR4 RAM (2,400MHz) and 512GB of PCIe SSD for storage. This is the only configuration you get and neither RAM nor storage are upgradeable.

In terms of I/O ports, you get a single USB-C port for charging and data transfer, one USB 3.0 Type A, and one USB 2.0 Type A; one HDMI port and one 3.5mm headphone jack.

The laptop has four speakers, two on the sides of the keyboard, and two at the bottom. It supports Dolby Atmos, the laptop is capable of supporting 3D surround sound – impressive for a compact device.

There’s a 57.6Wh battery powering the laptop, and has fast charging support of up to 65W via USB C. The charging adapter comes in the box and can be used to power your mobile devices too.

The HONOR MagicBook ships with Windows 10 and supports Magic-Link 2.0 that lets you transfer data between your Huawei and HONOR devices (Android 10) wirelessly.

You can purchase the laptop at HONOR’s official online and Shopee stores; or via retail partners Senheng and senQ.
