Google drops "Google Cast" branding for TVs and Speakers

The Google Cast branding has been used by Google to inform customers that the TVs or speakers they’ve purchased comes with Chromecast functionality built into the device. Unfortunately, it appears that the branding isn’t as effective as Google hoped it would be. That is why Google has reportedly dropped the Google Cast branding from use, opting instead to label these devices as “Chromecast built-in” devices.

According to a report by Variety, a Google spokesperson has confirmed that the company’s decision to drop the Google Cast branding is merely a name change. “First, nothing about the technology has changed. We’re rebranding Google Cast to “Chromecast built-in” to help users identify the technology that they’ve come to enjoy and appreciate. The new branding officially starts in 2017, which is why you’ll see it slowly rolling out in the meantime.”

Google has already begun fading off the Google Cast brand in favour of the “Chromecast built-in” moniker. This can be seen in from the now renamed Google Chromecast Twitter account, Google’s Cast website, and the Google Home website
