Google is bringing Smart Replies to Gboard

The guys over at 9to5Google have discovered codes that indicates Gboard will soon get Smart Replies, allowing you to send a quick message to someone when you are occupied with a task and manually typing it out is not ideal.

It might sound like a half-hearted reply to someone’s question or request, but if you are busy running around or need to avoid distractions, smart replies are something that can save time and keep you focused on your task at hand. Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp already have these quick reply messages and people have been using it frequently (myself included). The code also indicates that there will be an option to create your own GIFs by recording them and there is a Universal Media Keyboard that will help you search for content to send as a message.

It is still unsure if this feature will make its way to Gboard, but seeing as how other apps have already implemented this feature, it might be a good idea for Google to add this feature as well, as there are many people that use the Gboard aside from third-party keyboards.
