CES 2016 : Zeiss announces partnership to produce premium lens for smarphone photography

If you’re into smartphone photography, then you will be ecstatic to know that Zeiss has partnered with Fellowes Brands to produce three new high-performance mobile phone accessory lens, as announced during CES 2016.

The three lenses presented at CES comprised of a telephoto, a wide-angle and a macro lens, all scheduled to launch in late Q2 2016. The macro lens features a zoom function, while the wide-angle and telephoto offers edge-to-edge contrasts and better image performances. All lenses feature a smooth surface made of black adonised aluminium with white labeling, which is similar to current families of ZEISS lenses. All of the lenses showcased will include T* reflective coating from ZEISS, which cuts reflections and improves lighting transmissions.

Now, these lenses will be attached to device-specific ExoLens machined aluminium bracket using a screw thread. This bracket will only be available for all of Apple iPhone 6 models for now. There will be more devices that will be able to use these lenses in the future, but no further hints on which devices we can be expecting next.

Check out some of the photos taken using a smartphone mounted by these three new lenses, tested by four ZEISS Lens Ambassadors: Christian Dandyyk, Topher DeLancy, Brian Matiash, John Win.
