ASUS ProArt 4K OLED monitor finally goes on sale with an exorbitant price tag

At CES 2018, ASUS had announced its first professional OLED monitor: ProArt PQ22UC. Now, after more than a year, the 4K OLED monitor is finally available for purchase in select markets. In the coming months, however, we expect the monitor to go on sale in several other markets as well.

The ASUS ProArt PQ22UC has a 21.6-inch RGB stripe OLED panel sourced from JOLED. It supports up to 3840 x 2160 maximum resolution and is claimed to deliver up to 330 nits of peak brightness. Since it is an OLED panel, the response time is an impressive 0.1 ms. ASUS claims the monitor covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color space and comes with both HDR10 and HLG format support for HDR content. However, the monitor does not come with DisplayHDR certification, likely due to the relatively low peak brightness rating.

As I mentioned earlier, ASUS is targeting creative professionals with this monitor. If you are a gamer, the ProArt PQ22UC will not impress you. Even though the OLED panel boasts an ultra-fast response time, the maximum refresh rate is only 60Hz. It does not come with any gaming-oriented feature either.

The ASUS ProArt PQ22UC is now on sale via select retailers in Austria and the UK for a whopping €5,160 (RM23,748) and £4,799 (RM25,728), respectively. It is expected to become available in a few other markets beginning next month.
