Astro launches the Ultra Box with 4K UHD support, cloud recording and new user interface

Today, Astro officially launched its new TV box, Astro Ultra Box to the public consumers.

The Astro Ultra Box is Astro’s latest TV box that supports 4K UHD content, in addition to new user interface, cloud recording feature and multi-screen support. Users can also stream over 50,000 videos on demand, and even restart episodes and shows if you’ve missed the beginning.

For existing customers, you can get the Ultra Box for free if your monthly subscription pack is RM100 and above. On the other hand, new customers will have to pay an installation fee of RM99 if they opt for the Ultra Box — if they choose to subscribe for monthly packs RM100 and above. However, both new and existing customers will have to pay RM199 to upgrade/install the Ultra Box if the monthly pack they choose is below RM100.

There are also several requirements needed for users to be eligible for the Ultra Box. An internet connection at home is required and the company recommends intenser with more than 10Mbps speed, in addition to the minimum subscription with a HD+ recording service. You’ll also need to have a 4K UHD TV that supports HDCP 2.2.
