The ZTE Axon 7 was one of the few phones that stood out among the sea of affordable budget flagship smartphones by Chinese manufacturers. Its dual front facing speakers, Google Daydream compatibility and the 2K resolution display made the phone stand out even more. Although it has been nearly a year since it was announced back in May 2016, the ZTE flagship can still put up quite a fight in today’s standards, and it looks like ZTE has given the phone a refresh just enough to be on par with newer flagships.
ZTE has officially unveiled the Axon 7s, a follow up to the Axon 7. Like most other “S” iterations of smartphones, the Axon 7s doesn’t have too much of a difference when compared to its predecessor. The first notable difference is a dual rear camera configuration which has made a come back from the original ZTE Axon. For reference, the ZTE Axon 7 Max we saw at CES 2017 features a dual camera setup of 13MP sensors. ZTE however did not specify on the dual cameras on the Axon 7s.
Other upgrades include a slightly newer Snapdragon 821 processor underneath the hood, plus a larger 4,100mAh battery. The Axon 7 Max also received a refresh, now dubbed the Industry Edition. The phablet too gets a Snapdragon 821 processor and the 4,100mAh battery. Not much has been revealed other than that as the Axon 7s and the Axon 7 Max Industry Edition will only be made available to government officials in China, equipped with extra security measures and better encryption.
We can’t be certain as to whether ZTE will be launching a consumer version of the Axon 7s the new Axon 7 Max in the future. Would you get them if they were made available to the general public?
