The Zenfone Max Plus M1 launches, 18:9 display and 4130mAh battery for RM899

As spotted previously on ASUS’ Russian website, the ZenFone Max Plus M1 is now official in Malaysia today, it is the first ASUS smartphone to sport a 18:9 display and since it belongs to the Max family, the phone comes with a huge 4130mAh battery under the hood that offers close to a month of standby time. ASUS says that the ZenFone Max Plus M1 won’t be part of the ZenFone 4 line up, but rather it is a series of its own known as the ZenFone Max series.

The ZenFone Max Plus M1 has a 5.7-inch HD+ display fitted on to a typical 5.2-inch phone form factor, which offers an impressive 80% screen to body ratio though it still has visible top and bottom bezels. The phone is powered by a Mediatek MT6750T Octa Core processor, and unlike the one we reported earlier, the Malaysian model has 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage configuration, there’s a dual camera system that takes standard and 120 degree wide angle photos at 16-megapixel, the front facing camera will also take high resolution selfies at 16-megapixel. Furthermore, the phone also offers facial unlock as an additional security feature over its fast 0.3 seconds rear fingerprint scanner, ASUS also provides a 10W charger out of the box that will provide the phone 3 hours of talk time with 15 minutes of charge time.

With all of these features, the ZenFone Max Plus M1 has a surprisingly competitive price of RM899, which is at least RM400 cheaper than competing devices that offers the same specs sheet, making this the most affordable smartphone with dual camera and long battery life. To make things even more attractive, ASUS is partnering with Lazada in offering a RM200 cash voucher off the phone’s original price between December 14-19, you can also opt to trade in your old phone at any authorized dealers nationwide to enjoy a rebate as well.
