YouTube has been trying to control the content kids can access so that they can prevent explicit content from reaching them. This is probably YouTube has announced that they will be launching a website version of YouTube Kids later this week.
Instead of posting it officially on their YouTube blog, YouTube has made this announcement quietly on its support forum. The updated YouTube Kids will have three age categories so parents can pick appropriate ones based on their children’s age.
However, the Google employee who wrote the post also mentioned that “not all videos have been manually reviewed” hence it’s still possible for some unwanted content to slip past the system and appear in YouTube Kids. Parents can choose to block or flag those videos so that the authorities can quickly review it and remove it if needed.
By the end of this week, kids should be able to enjoy both YouTube Kids on its app and website.
