YouTube introduces new tools that allows creators to better control the comments section

YouTube’s comment section can be…rather unpleasant at times, which is why YouTube has decided to roll out four new moderation tools that would allow them to better control their channel’s own comment section.

Starting from today, YouTube creators will be able to pin specific comments to the top of the comments section, allowing them to highlight great engagement or share information with your audience. Additionally, creators will also be able to give a heart to their favourite comments as a way of acknowledging comments from their viewers. To let the viewers identify the creator better, YouTube will also be making it easier to identify a creator’s comment. These comments will appear under the ext with a pop of colour around it. For verified creators, a verification checkmark will appear beside the name.

In addition to these new tools, YouTube will also be beta testing a new feautre that would allow the creator to hold potentially inappropriate comments for review. If you decide to opt-in to this beta, comments identified by YouTube’s algorithm will be held and the creators will be able to approve, hide, or report these comments. As is the case for features in beta, YouTube has warned that this feature may occasionally give out false positives, so it’ll take some time before the bugs are ironed out of this feature.
