You can finally reload your Touch n’ Go card using your phone

The Touch n’ Go card is pretty much an everyday prepaid payment card for us Malaysians, and while there are many reload centers nationwide, there are times where it still isn’t convenient to head on to one of them. Touch n’ Go has finally updated it’s e-wallet app to support transferring funds to your Touch n’ Go card. Available as a free download for iOS and Android devices, the app requires a one-time sign up and you will need to reload funds to the wallet to use the services, which you can do it via Credit/Debit card, FPX online banking and Touch n’ Go reload PIN.

The new Touch n’ Go app has a number of services, including paying phone and utility bills, purchasing movie tickets from MBO Cinemas and flight tickets from Airpaz. While some features such as rewards are still in the works, the app will also soon support reloading the new RFID tag that is currently being tested on Malaysian highways. To top up your Touch n’ Go card, all you need to do is to tap on the Transfer button on the main page and choose the TnG card in the next screen, enter your Touch n’ Go serial number and reference number, you should be able to see your updated balance thereafter on a Touch n’ Go terminal.

Although it is great that Touch n’ Go is adding such convenience for it’s customers, it would be great if the company can take advantage of NFC on phones in the next update to check the TnG card’s balance and process the reload directly, rather than having to reload funds to the e-wallet for that purpose. The TnG card uses NFC technology to transmit and receive data, and it shouldn’t be a problem if the company does encryption right on the app to prevent unauthorized reload transactions and data retrieval.

Download the Touch n’ Go app for iOS and Android, and tell us your thoughts about it.

it is not a scam. it is just a very confusing method. so now u have the tng card, right? all u need to do is add your card in the ewallet app. and then topup up your ewallet. but here is the tricky part; you can use your tng card (that have been registered in ewallet app) to pass through toll with the amount in the ewallet app yet to be deducted not from your tng card. so reload your ewallet and use your tng card at toll. the amount will be deducted from your ewallet app. TQ HOPE THIS HELPS.

But still coverage of tolls which use ewallet are limited and hence we still need to topup our touch n go which cannot be done directly thru the apps. So its pretty useless afterall.
