Yes 5G’s home wireless broadband is a commendable service at just RM58/month, and if you are looking to sign up to the telco’s 5G broadband service with a 5G router that costs RM99/month with a 24-month contract, you will be glad to know that Yes now offers a 12-month contract option as part of its Christmas promo.
However, you will be required to pay a RM299 upfront fee for the 5G router when picking the option, which totally makes sense as you are signing up for a shorter contract period, and if the service isn’t satisfactory, you can still return and cancel the service within 7 days of usage provided your usage doesn’t exceed 10GB, and by all means, the total cost of ownership will be cheaper since you will be paying the usual monthly rates on the 13th month.
A good 5G capable router would have cost at least RM600, which is relatively expensive to fibre optic broadband routers, it is a great choice to get one from Yes if you are thinking to subscribe to its wireless broadband service, a 5G smartphone hotspot won’t cut it as they don’t usually offer good WiFi performance and can’t support more than 10 devices, Yes 5G’s router will support up to 32 devices and WiFi 6 connectivity.
In terms of performance, you can literally take your current 5G phone plan as a benchmark if you are in a supported coverage area, as all telcos are running on DNB’s 5G network, but what makes Yes different is that the service doesn’t have Fair Usage Policy and no speed caps, as we have demonstrated in our video above.
