Yeelight is releasing a smart speaker with Cortana enabled

Yeelight which is a subsidiary of Xiaomi has just launched a new product, the Yeelight Voice Assistant which is a smart speaker that looks very similar to Amazon Echo Dot. Yeelight, as some of you know produces smart home products and appliance so it makes sense that they would also produce a home smart speaker.

The Yeelight Voice Assistant comes with four buttons on top, an action button, microphone mute button, volume up and down buttons which are also seen on the Echo Dot. The fifth button in the middle can mute the speaker which is the only function the Echo Dot lacks. The voice assistant used is Cortana which is probably due to the partnership between Microsoft and Xiaomi. There are six microphones and a single 2-Watt speaker, it also comes with advance voice wake-up algorithm which can turn on the device within a 5-meter range and it comes with advanced acoustic echo cancellation and Beamforming technology for echo reduction. The device is equipped with a 64-bit Cortex A53 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 256MB of RAM and 256MB storage. It will support 2.4Ghz and 5GHz dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth Low Energy.

The Yeelight Voice Assistant will come with a price tag of 199 Yuan (RM123.94) and will start shipping 31 January 2018 in China
