Xperia E5 renders published by accident, by Sony

The Sony Xperia E5 has been rumored for awhile now. The entry level smartphone had its renders leaked online, or published by Sony themselves, and the folks at Xperia Blog have managed to capture the renders, which were quickly pulled from Sony’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. The Xperia E5 is said to be a worthy competitor to the Moto G4 Play in the entry level spectrum.

Looking at the leaked renders, the Xperia E5 resembles the more premium Xperia X which was unveiled not too long ago. However, the Xperia E5 doesn’t feature a camera shutter button, neither does it have a fingerprint sensor. The device does have an impressive design for an entry level phone. Based on the renders, we can also confirm that the Xperia E5 will support NFC, as seen on the rear panel of the device.

Recent rumors based on a GFXBench benchmark result suggest that the Xperia E5 will sport a 720p display at 4.6-inches. Underneath the hood, the E5 is said to be powered by a MediaTek MT6735 SoC with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. In typical Sony fashion, things get a little more impressive than usual in the camera department, with the Xperia E5 rumored to feature a 16MP primary camera coupled with a 5MP front camera.

Moving back to the renders, we see a “05 JUN” date on the screen of the Xperia E5, which might hint at a June 5th launch less than two weeks from now. As much as it seems like a competitor to the Moto G4 Play, we doubt that the Xperia E5 will be able to compete when it comes to pricing.
