The Xperia 2 we’re expecting Sony to announce at IFA 2019 is actually the Xperia 5

Sony plans to unveil its next Xperia phone today at IFA 2019 but instead of the Xperia 2 we’re expecting, it’s actually going to be the Xperia 5.

Why are we so sure? Well, Sony accidentally revealed it during a test live stream and someone managed to screenshot that moment, so that’s why.

With just one screenshot, we can confirm that the Xperia 5 will come with an OLED panel with HDR support and has a 21:9 aspect ration. It’ll also be paired with Dolby Atmos support, just like the Xperia 1.

Other than that, the Xperia 5 will be slightly smaller compared to the Xperia 1. We’re also expecting Sony to integrate a Snapdragon 855 processor into the device, in addition to the Xperia 5 sporting a triple camera setup.

We don’t know why Sony would skip from Xperia 1 to Xperia 5, but a scheme to trick the public by “accidentally” leaking the device name as Xperia 5 instead of Xperia 2 seems unlikely.

Either way, we’ll find out more information and also what the device is really called tonight.
