Xiaomi’s double-folding phone leaks again in promo video

Back in January this year, Xiaomi President Lin Bin posted a video showcasing the company’s upcoming double foldable phone on Chinese social network Weibo. A new promo video of the double-folding Xiaomi smartphone has now surfaced online.

The new 10-second video posted on YouTube shows the device’s double-fold mechanism in action, along with a quick glance at the software. As you can see in the video below, the Xiaomi foldable phone will support swipe-to-go-back gesture. To switch from tablet to phone mode, users will simply have to fold the screen back from both sides.

A recent report had claimed the Xiaomi foldable smartphone would be released sometime in the second quarter of the year. It is rumored to be priced at $999 (RM4,070), which would make it significantly more affordable than other foldable smartphones launched so far.

While no details regarding the hardware specifications of the phone are available yet, reports have revealed that the flexible AMOLED display has been developed in conjunction with China’s Visionox. Apart from Xiaomi, a few other Android OEMs are also expected to launch their first foldable smartphones later this year. Motorola plans to resurrect its iconic Razr as a foldable smartphone with a Snapdragon 710 SoC under the hood.
