Xiaomi unveils the Mi MIX 2S, comes with AI powered cameras that scored 97 on DxOMark

Xiaomi had a press conference in China today to unveil their updated Mi MIX 2 with the Mi MIX 2S, a phone that comes with a huge screen to body ratio and at the same time offers a beautiful piece of hardware compared to anything they have released.

The Mi MIX 2S is slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor and the bottom bezel, which still houses the front camera, has reduced in size and the earpiece is in the same location as the Mi MIX 2. The front and back of the phone are covered in glass and there is an aluminium frame along the sides of the phone. The phone comes equipped with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD Full-Screen display which supports FHD+ resolutions.

The Mi MIX 2S comes equipped with a Snapdragon 845 processor and powering the device is a 3,400mAh battery which supports QuickCharge 3.0. The phone will come in three variants, 6GB RAM/64GB storage, 6GB RAM/128GB storage, and the last one which they are calling the King Version, comes with 8GB RAM/256GB storage. All the variants will come with a microSD card slot and will be running on Android 8.0 alongside MIUI 9.5. Other than that, it also comes with Xiao AI voice assistant and support for Google ARCore.

The MI MIX 2S comes with a dual-camera on the rear with a 12MP+12MP setup with the telephoto lens having support for optical zoom. It also comes with AI features like the ability to detect up to 206 scenes and support for real-time language translation and currency. The rear cameras managed to score an impressive 101 on DxOMark’s benchmarks but its overall score put it at 97, which is along the lines of the iPhone X and Huawei Mate 10 Pro.

The Mi MIX 2S comes with a starting price of 3,299Yuan up to 3,999Yuan for the King Version. All the 6GB variants come in black colour while the special edition model has a white ceramic body.
