Xiaomi unleashes the Redmi Note 12 series in Malaysia

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note series have always been the undisputed champ in the mid-range phone category, and the company has introduced the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 5G and the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G to the Malaysian market today.

Starting with the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, it features a powerful 200MP camera with optical image stabilization as its main shooter, which is absolutely bizarre as this would only have been possible on more expensive flagships, it is supported by an 8-megapixel ultrawide and 2MP macro camera, while the main camera is capable of taking 4K videos at 30 FPS.

Powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 1080 chipset mated to 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage, it has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that refreshes at 120Hz and supports Dolby Vision HDR, dual stereo speakers that supports Dolby Atmos sound enhancement, and a 5000mAh battery that supports 120W HyperCharge fast charging, which is the first Redmi Note series to achieve that.

The Redmi Note 12 on the other hand comes with two different hardware specifications for the 4G and 5G model, which Xiaomi has employed the Snapdragon 685 chipset for the 4G model and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset for the 5G model. As for storage, both Redmi Note 12 variants will come with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage.

Both phones feature 6.67-inch panels that refreshes at 120Hz, though they don’t support Dolby Vision HDR like the Pro+, they also feature a single mono loudspeaker instead of dual stereo speakers. In terms of cameras, the Redmi Note 12 employs a 48MP main camera and is assisted by a 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro camera. The phone is juiced by a 5000mAh battery but supports a slower but still decent 33W charging wattage.

The Redmi Note 12 series will be available for pre-order starting from April 6 to 13, the Redmi Note 12 4G and 5G retails for RM799 and RM1,099 respectively, while the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G retails for RM1,599.

An online exclusive of the Redmi Note 12 with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage retails for RM699, which can be purchased from Xiaomi’s official Lazada and Shopee store for a lower price of RM659 during the pre-order period.
