Foldable smartphone is an innovation many are looking forward to, and we’re already expecting to see several foldable smartphones this year, including the Samsung Galaxy F that is rumoured to launch in February. There is also the Royole FlexPai that was launched recently, and now it seems like Xiaomi also has plans on releasing its own foldable smartphone.
Can’t speak to the authenticity of this video or device, but it’s allegedly made by Xiaomi, I’m told. Hot new phone, or gadget porn deepfake? pic.twitter.com/qwFogWiE2F

Back at the beginning of the month, a serial leaker on Twitter named Evan Blass posted a short video revealing a foldable phone that was said to be made by Xiaomi, and this device folds outwards on both sides unlike the FlexPai and the prototype of the Samsung Galaxy F. The device came with MIUI skin, so many believed that it could be a Xiaomi foldable phone.
Check out this special video from #Xiaomi President and Co-founder Bin Lin, showing off a very special phone prototype… 😎
What does everyone think we should name this phone? 🤔#InnovationForEveryone pic.twitter.com/1lFj3nM7tD

These beliefs only strengthen when the global spokesperson of Xiaomi, Donovan Sung posted a video on his Twitter that shows Xiaomi’s Co-Founder Lin Bin using a phone prototype that folds just like the video posted by Evan Blass. Sung even wrote, “What does everyone think we should name this phone?” which is suggesting that the phone will indeed be launched to consumers.
We’ll probably have to wait for another few months before we get to witness the launch of the Xiaomi foldable phone, but we do expect a rather hefty price tag to come with the foldable phone. For now, let’s just wait for the Xiaomi Mi 9 to be launched instead.
