Xiaomi Redmi K50 Pro+ could be first phone to come with Snapdragon 898 chipset

Redmi K40 Pro

The upcoming Xiaomi Redmi K50 Pro+ is touted to be quite the performance and photography beast, according to various reports.

Under the hood is supposedly a Snapdragon 898, which is still unreleased. It is, of course, the follow up to the Snapdragon 888 – for all its power, it also came with its share of heating issues; so we’re hoping the SD 898 fixes the issue.

For imaging, you get a 108MP main lens, which has become a bit of a mainstay on Xiaomi’s midrangers; there could also be a periscope telephoto lens which makes things more interesting.

Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery – however, it is not said what rate of fast charging the phone will support; but if the Xiaomi 11T Pro can do 120W, perhaps the K50 Pro+ can too.

When it arrives in Malaysia, it will likely be re-branded and be made part of POCO’s lineup. The phone will likely be part of a partnership with Qualcomm which will see it be one of the first phones to pack the Snapdragon 898; and with this in mind, we can expect both chip and phone to arrive by the end of the year.
