Xiaomi Redmi K40 confirmed to come with Snapdragon 888

The Xiaomi Redmi K40 series will include a model that packs a Snapdragon 888 chipset – this is confirmed by Redmi GM Lu Weibing via his Weibo account.

He also confirms that the series will arrive this February in its native China and will cost at least 2,999 Yuan (about RM1,887). He also refers to the series as having the most expensive flat screen phone in the market – which tells us Xiaomi wants to the Redmi to break into the premium price segment.

Which makes sense since the priciest model in the range will pack the very powerful Snapdragon 888 chip as mentioned before – and it’ll compete with the Xiaomi Mi 11 and OPPO Find X2 series for the top spot in the performance charts.

In Malaysia, there’s a chance it could be rebadged as a POCO and we can’t wait. We’ll keep you posted when we get more information about the device. For now, if you fancy a Redmi phone, the brand-new 9T is a fantastic budget option.
