Xiaomi has unveiled the successor to its largely popular Mi Max phablet today, the Mi Max 2 maintains the same 6.44-inch Full HD display with a fairly slim 7.6mm body profile and 211g weight, what’s new under the hood is the familiar Snapdragon 625 Octa-Core processor mated to 4GB of RAM with either 64GB or 128GB of storage while supporting MicroSD storage expansion.
The phablet’s main camera has also been upgraded to a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 sensor with a 1.25 micron pixel size, probably the most exciting update is that the Mi Max 2 now features Quick Charge 3.0 for its huge sized 5300mAh battery, the device can also be used as a power bank to charge other devices via its USB Type-C port. To make things even better, the Mi Max 2 is now equipped with stereo speakers, which automatically activates when the phone is in landscape orientation, making this a great entertainment device on the go. In terms of software, Xiaomi will ship the Mi Max 2 with MIUI 8 based on Android Nougat, the company will soon introduce a “Split Screen” feature to take advantage of the huge display, which allows users to run two active applications at the same time.
