Launched just a few months back, the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 has proven to be an impressive budget fitness tracker – but one gripe fans outside of China had with the device is that the global version of the watch doesn’t support NFC.

In response to that, Xiaomi will reported include the wireless payment feature in the upcoming Mi Band 5. However, it is unsure how many pay apps will be supported once it hits Malaysian shores. The likes of Fitbit will introducing Fitbit Pay next year which will allow you to link a credit card to your watch. Perhaps Xiaomi could head the same direction too.

Plus, the Mi Band 5 will reportedly come with a built-in microphone too – we’re assuming for AI assistant purposes. Going with the usual launch dates of its predecessors, we could be looking at a Q2 release date for the fitness tracker.
