The Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth 5G mid-range smartphone has officially been launched in its native China and it’s the first device from the company to pack a periscope lens.

The Mi 10 Youth 5G is basically a higher-end Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite which was also made available in China last month. The former sets itself apart with better hardware across the board. They do, however, come in the same 6.57-inch size, but the Mi 10 Youth 5G has an FHD+ display with a 180Hz touch sampling rate, is HDR10+ certified, and is made with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 – some premium stuff here.

For imaging, the Mi 10 Youth 5G comes with a 48MP main sensor, alongside an 8MP periscope lens, an 8MP ultrawide shooter and a 2MP macro lens. The selfie lens here is a modest 16MP one that’s capable of shooting videos at 1080p at 30FPS.

Under the hood, the Mi 10 Youth 5G comes with a Snapdragon 765 chipset along with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage.

It also packs a 4,160mAh battery and supports up to 22.5W of fast charging trough PD. The phone will ship with Android 10 with MIUI 11 layered on top – it should receive the upcoming MIUI 12 update too.

The phone is priced from 2,099 Yuan (RM1,291) for the 6GB+64GB model, 2,299 (RM1,415) Yuan for the 6GB+128GB variant, 2,499 Yuan (RM1,538) for the 8GB+128GB option, and 2,799 Yuan (RM1,722) for the 8GB+256GB version.

There’s no word yet on whether the device will arrive in Malaysia, but it does look like an interesting option for those who’re looking for a capable but affordable 5G smartphone.
