Xiaomi has always been known to be one of the slowest when it comes to new Android software adoption. The company has been having its own heavily skinned MIUI software running on all of its smartphones. Nevertheless, the time has come and Xiaomi has finally revealed which of its devices that will be receiving Android Nougat.
For starters, a total of 12 Mi phones will be getting at least an upgrade to Android version 7.0. These are:
- Mi Max
- Mi 5
- Mi 5s
- Mi 5s Plus
- Mi 4c
- Mi 4s
- Mi Note Pro
- Mi Note 2
- Mi MIX
- Redmi Note 4X
These handsets will be getting a more refined Android version 7.1:
- Mi 6
- Mi Max 2
- Mi 5c
- Redmi 4X
No specific time frame for the software updates have been mentioned for either device. It is highly unlikely that they will receive Nougat software immediately. Having said that, the Redmi 4 and the Redmi Note 4 happened to be missing from the list, out of all the devices. Considering that much older handsets will be getting Nougat, the Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4 should eventually receive Nougat treatment as well. Let’s hope we get news on both of these. Apart from that, do you see your Mi smartphone listed above?
