Xiaomi globally launches the A1, a pure Android experience version of the 5X

Xiaomi has finally unveiled the long teased Mi A1 phone in India, making the first Mi phone that comes with the stock Android UI eliminating the MIUI interface for this model of the phone. It also falls under AndroidOne which means that it will be getting support and updates faster than the other phones that are not under this program.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 is generally the same phone as the Mi 5X which was previously not available worldwide, but the A1 will make its way around the world. The phone comes with a Snapdragon 625 processor, 5.5-inch FHD screen, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage and a 3080mAh battery, giving it a good amount of juice. On the rear, there is a dual-camera setup, one camera is a wide angle 12MP camera and the other is a 12MP telephoto lens giving you a nice portrait shot with an advance bokeh effect thanks to the face tracking algorithm that they are using.

Now all this might sound like it’s generally the same specs as the 5X, but because it falls under the AndroidOne. This means that Android Oreo will arrive on this phone before the end of the year and it will be one of the first phones to receive the Android P update when it arrives.

The phone will come in three colours, Black, Gold and Rose Gold and will retail in India for Rs. 14,999 (RM997.95) but when it comes here, we should expect it to be the same price as the imported set of the 5X.
