After teasing the device last week, Xiaomi has finally announced it’s newest flagship smartphone in China: the Xiaomi Mi 5S.
Design-wise, the Mi 5S is visually identical to the Mi 5. Unlike the Mi 5, the Mi 5S sports an all-metal cover, giving it that premium feel that everybody is looking for these days. For the display of the Mi 5S, it appears that Xiaomi has opted for a pressure-sensitive screen, allowing it to mimic the iPhone’s 3D Touch feature. The screen itself has a brightness of 600 nits and a 95% NTSC colour gamut coverage.
Another unique feature of the Mi 5S is its ultrasonic fingerprint technology. This piece of tech allows your phone to scan your fingerprint just by applying pressure onto the screen itself.
Next up, specifications. The Mi 5S will come loaded with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor, LPDDR4 RAM, UFS 2.0 storage, and NFC. The phone will also support Quick Charge 3.0, allowing you to top up your phone’s battery in just a few minutes of charging time.
Rounding up the unveiling of the Mi 5S, Xiaomi teased the Mi 5S camera’s capabilities with a few side-by-side shots done with the iPhone 6s Plus and the Samsung S7 Edge.
The Mi 5S will retail for CNY1,999 (RM1,235) for the 64GB variant, and CNY2,299 (RM1,421) for the 128GB variant.
