Xiaomi boasts nearly 300,000 units of the Mi 5X sold in the first day

The headline probably isn’t as surprising anymore to most of us here. It is one of the many incredible feats by Xiaomi with its latest dual camera smartphone, the Mi 5X. Xiaomi has recently reclaimed its spot in the world’s top 5 smartphone brands for Q2 2017 in terms of smartphone sales, and is looking to remain in that top 5 with the impressive sale of the Mi 5X.

The Xiaomi Mi 5X was launched just recently and went on sale on the company’s home soil China yesterday. Xiaomi’s co-founder Lin Bin has stated that almost 300,000 units of the Mi 5X were sold yesterday alone. 300,000 units is no small feat for the likes of Xiaomi, but it is also rather unsurprising for the flash sale centric company. Regardless, this figure is definitely an excellent start for Xiaomi’s sales in this third quarter of the year.

To recap, the Mi 5X generally sports mid range specs, notably the Snapdragon 625 processor with 4GB of RAM underneath the hood. But what makes it stand out is the fact that it features the same dual rear camera setup as its Mi 6 flagship handset, meaning that fans can get the same camera quality for a lower price tag. Even the Mi 6 itself is already affordable for a flagship.

But the question is, will the Xiaomi Mi 5X make its way to Malaysian shores? What do you think?
