Windows 10 will be coming to Snapdragon-powered devices

Microsoft and Qualcomm has just announced a partnership that would see Windows 10 being made available on the next generation Snapdragon mobile processors.

While details on this partnership is still rather vague, Microsoft and Qualcomm confirmed that the full version of Windows 10 will be present on Snapdragon-powered devices. This means that support for legacy Win32 software and universal Windows apps will available. As far as the devices are concerend, these Snapdragon Windows 10 devices will be light and power efficient. In addition to that, these devices will also include Gigabit LTE connectivity. If you aren’t convinced, Microsoft has releaesd a video linked above that showcases a Snapdragon-powered device running various applications on Windows 10.

As for availability, Qualcomm has mentioned that the first Windows 10 Snapdragon PCs could arrive “as early as next year”. Let’s just hope that Microsoft’s attempt to bring Windows 10 to the Snapdragon fares better than its flirting with ARM via the Surface RT.
