WhatsApp looks set to feature their own dark mode soon

The mobile world has been hit with an unexpected turn of events in the recent month – popular apps such as Facebook Messenger, Google Chrome, Opera have been graced with a little feature called dark mode. Not only does it look cool, its supposedly good for your eyes and it helps reduce battery drain – but we like it mostly because it looks cool.

According to 9to5Google, popular messaging app WhatsApp may also roll out their own dark mode too! For what it offers in reliability and lightweight nature, it lacks in any aesthetic flair; especially when you compare to its counterparts Line and WeChat.

The report says that the feature was uncovered in a beta update of the app. WhatsApp’s dark mode isn’t completely black like on Reddit’s AMOLED night mode; but rather dark grey like – Android Police says that the color is #111111 in hex code.

It also needs to be mentioned that the beta update is also available for iOS systems and it comes with dark mode too. Although trivial in nature, we’re excited for the official rollout of the feature so our night-time texting habits won’t hurt our eyes so much.
