The vivo Y70s is the latest entry to the brand’s long-standing Y-series midrange smartphones. It was quietly introduced in its native China and it looks like a decent affordable 5G smartphone.

The vivo Y70s has a 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD display that houses a punch hole camera – a feature that looks to be the de-facto design for smartphone displays in 2020. It’s got a chin, but otherwise, the bezels on this phone appears to be quite thin.

For imaging, you get a 48MP triple camera setup – 48MP main + 8MP ultrawide shooter + 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, you get the standard 16MP front shooter.

Under the hood, you get an Exynos 880 from Samsung – it packs 2x Cortex-A77 cores, and 6x Cortex-A55 cores. For graphics, you also get an ARM Mali –G76 chip which Samsung claims allows for high-framerate in-game rendering. Basically, Samsung’s saying you can run mobile games at its maximum graphics settings without problems. The phone also comes with 128GB internal storage paired with either 6GB or 8GB RAM.

The vivo Y70s also comes with a 4,500mAh battery which supports 18W of fast charging. The phone ships with Android 10 with FunTouch OS layered on top.

All in all, for CNY1,998 (RM1,222) for the 6GB model and CNY 2,198 (RM1,345) for the 8GB RAM variant, the vivo Y70s looks like a decent buy if you’re looking for something powerful yet doesn’t break the bank. There’s no word on when it’ll come to Malaysia, but we’ll keep you posted as more information comes.
