New vivo Y50 with 6GB RAM to launch under RM1,000

Vivo is launching an online-exclusive smartphone this month — the vivo Y50. Now, it’s not exactly a ‘new’ model, but this phone will be repackaged to be offered at a lower price.

The current Y50 available in Malaysia is priced at RM1,099 and comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The repackaged vivo Y50 will be available in 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and is confirmed to be priced below RM1,000 — we’re assuming that it’ll be RM999.

Apart from the slightly lower RAM storage, the repackaged model should be similar to its previous version. It’ll come with a 6.53-inch Ultra O FHD+ screen and a 90.77% screen-to-body ratio. We’re still expecting the Starry Black and Iris Blue variants, and the rear fingerprint sensor should remain.

Under the hood, the vivo Y50 is powered by the Snapdragon 665 paired with a 5,000mAh battery. The previous version has a 13MP camera paired with two 2MP lenses and another 8MP super wide-angle camera while the front holds a 16MP selfie lens.

There’s still no exact availability and pricing, but it should be arriving very soon.
