The year 2019 will be an exciting year as smartphone users expect to see new smartphones to come with 5G network support, and brands such as Samsung and Xiaomi are already hinting that they will be revealing 5G smartphones next year. Joining these brands are Vivo, the company that now confirms that they will also be showcasing 5G smartphones next year.
Vivo revealed their 5G smartphones in Beijing, China at the International Symposium on ICT Technology last month, and the director of the Vivo Standard Product department, Zhang Yuan also stated that Vivo has actually begun research and development on 5G networks since 2016. He also said that the company have been submitting over 1,500 technical proposals to achieve the 5G network, and the current progress on the 5G smartphones are going smoothly.
The former Vivo CEO also stated that in 2019, there will be a pre-commercial 5G smartphone but the real 5G smartphone will only be launched in 2020 when Chinese operators expands the technology to the larger community.
It is not confirmed as to when the 5G smartphone can be seen next year, but Vivo will be participating in various terminal and network tests to ensure that the real 5G smartphone can be released in 2020.
