VIVO teases the X9 and X9 Plus with 20MP+8MP dual selfie cameras

Chinese manufacturer VIVO has always been known to spec out its handsets, especially their cameras. The company made the world’s first 6GB RAM phone – the VIVO Xplay5 and a couple of selfie-centric devices. OPPO is no stranger to the selfie game as well, having introduced the OPPO F1s, which sports a whopping 16MP front facing selfie camera. If you think that’s impressive, VIVO has something better in store for you. This time, the company has teased its upcoming series of phones with a dual-camera configuration, on the front.

VIVO has posted a teaser on Chinese micro blogging site Weibo regarding its upcoming X9 series of smartphones – the X9 and X9 Plus. The company has teased that both phones will sport dual front facing selfie shooters. The main selfie camera is of 20MP, and the smaller one will be of 8MP. Unfortunately, the company did not reveal or tease further details regarding both the X9 and X9 Plus.

Having a sole 20MP selfie camera is a huge step up on paper, and a 20MP + 8MP dual camera configuration on the front will most probably blow consumers’ minds into another level. Chances are that the 8MP sensor is meant for wide angle selfies, and also to provide more liberty when it comes to tweaking the depth of field for selfie pictures. As impressive as it may sound, it is just one of the many attempts by a Chinese manufacturer to compete in the spec game. Let us know your thoughts at the comments section below!
