Back in January, Vivo released what would be the world’s first 5G smartphone, the Vivo APEX 2019. Fast forward three months later, Vivo has announced that the phone will be arriving to Malaysia very soon.
One of the key points to take from the phone’s launch in China was its button and port layouts – or lack thereof. The Vivo Apex 2019 is a blank canvas with ports – buttons like the volume rockers and power buttons as well as the front camera will be stripped from the device.
Official renders and videos show that the APEX 2019 has one of arguably the thinnest bezels to date along. With no USB ports, the phone utilizes magnetic power connector for charging as well as data transfer. The connectors are placed on the bottom part of the back panel which you can connect to a magnetic induction charger.
According to Android Authority, who’ve had the phone in their hands already, the Vivo will have a “full-screen-in-display” fingerprint sensor meaning you can tap anywhere on the phone’s screen to unlock your phone.
The phones OLED screen also makes use of Vivo’s SoundCasting technology which lets it emits sound via vibrations. Volume rockers here will be in the form of Touch Sense capacitive buttons that use pressure-sensitive sensors on the side of the phone.
Under the hood is a Snapdragon 855 chipset with 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage, and of course the phone supports 5G.
The Vivo APEX 2019 is set to be announced in Malaysia sometime next week, while release dates could be within this month.
