Vivo and Intel joins others in canceling plans to MWC 2020

MWC 2020 is less than two weeks away, but as the date approaches, more and more brands are making their decisions to withdraw from the show. Vivo and Intel are amongst those who have decided to pull out of MWC this year.

All three companies are worried about the coronavirus outbreak that has now passed 1000 death tolls worldwide. “The safety and wellbeing of all our employees and partners is our top priority, and we have withdrawn from this year’s Mobile World Congress out of an abundance of caution. We are grateful to the GSMA for their understanding and look forward to attending and supporting future Mobile World Congress events,” said Intel’s spokesperson in Venturebeat’s report.

On the other hand, vivo also told Android Authority that it will be completely withdrawing from MWC 2020 due to the outbreak. The company will be skipping MWC 2020 and will also halt other events that they had initially plan to host in Barcelona, Spain.

Previously, companies like NVIDIA, Ericsson, LG and also Amazon have made their withdrawals. Now, companies that are withdrawing include NTT Docomo, Amdocs and CommScope. “While we appreciate the precautionary measures put into place by the GSMA, we believe the safest option is not to attend MWC 2020 in Barcelona,” said Shuky Sheffer, Amdocs CEO.
