U.S. PlayStation Plus membership fees to rise in September

Bad news U.S. PlayStation Plus users, Sony is about to raise the price of the PlayStation Plus starting from the 22nd of September.

In a PlayStation Plus blog post published back on the 27th of July, Sony has announced that the subscription to the U.S. PlayStation Plus will be raised to USD59.99 for a one-year membership, while the three-month membership will be raised to USD24.99. Previously, both the one-year subscription and the three-month subscription are priced at USD49.99 and USD17.99 respectively. If your PlayStation Plus subscription expires before the 22nd of September, worry not as the your renewal fee will still be at the old price.

“The new pricing reflects the current market conditions while enabling us to continue providing exceptional value to our members,” Sony writes. “As a member, you will continue to enjoy the benefits and features that enable shared experiences, such as online multiplayer, free games and exclusive discounts. You will also continue to get exclusive benefits such as online game storage and discounts across the PlayStation digital services.”

An important thing to note is that the price listed above is limited only to the U.S. PlayStation Plus members. Only time will tell if the Asian PlayStation Plus would have an increase in price as well.
