Upcoming LCD iPhones will not support 3D Touch

Apple first introduced the 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus which gave users the ability to view the app without opening it. It also integrated with other apps like Facebook when you want to focus on a picture that your friends and family post. However, it looks like the feature might not come back in future iPhones.

Barclay’s analyst Blayne Curtis who visited Apple’s supply chain has said that next year’s OLED models will not come with 3D Touch, based on the information he has received from his trip. He also mentioned that the AirPod 2 which will come with water resistance will be introduced in the fourth quarter of 2019 and a new version of the AirPod case that supports wireless charging will launch next month. Lastly, he also mentioned that the AirPower charging mat will be available in September and a cheaper HomePod speaker.

Ming-Chi Kuo also confirmed that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will not support 3D Touch due to an extra layer of thin film that is required for the display.
