Huawei has just confirmed the Honor 6X’s unveiling for October 18th next week, and prior to yesterday’s announcement, the mid ranger’s specs have pretty much been leaked out in near full detail since last month. Another media invite has emerged for Huawei’s event next week as well, most likely a wearable device known as the Honor S1.
This is probably the first time most of us have come across this mysterious wearable. The Honor S1 is rumored to be a smartwatch, and not just a simple fitness wearable like the previous Honor Band Z1. The Honor Band Z1 is a budget wearable. While most of its functions and features pale in comparison to the likes of the Huawei Watch, it certainly excels better when it comes to battery life, plus a better IP rating.
Having said that, Huawei’s sub brand Honor hasn’t released a smartwatch before, making the rumored Honor S1 the first. The S1 is said to either follow in the footsteps of the Huawei Watch, if not surpassing it. Based on the media invite poster, water resistance seems to be the emphasis, looking at the water droplets. It is difficult to determine whether or not the Honor S1 will be running Android Wear, or a possible Tizen that Huawei was rumored to be working on, or even Huawei’s own simple custom wearable OS.
We have less than a week before Huawei launches both the Honor 6X and this mysterious Honor S1, so keep your eyes peeled as we close down on Huawei’s launch event. What do you think?
